Tottenham in Talks With Manchester City Over Surprise Savinho Transfer

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly opened negotiations with Manchester City over a shock move for Brazilian winger Savinho.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Spurs manager Thomas Frank has identified the 20-year-old as an “ideal player” to boost his attacking options ahead of the new season.

The Dane’s desire for fresh attacking talent follows two major setbacks for the club. Long-time talisman Son Heung-min recently completed a high-profile move to Los Angeles FC, while playmaker James Maddison has been ruled out for an extended period with a potentially season-ending knee injury.

Negotiations Underway

Romano reports that “club-to-club talks” between Spurs and City are ongoing, with both sides exploring the possibility of a deal worth around €50 million (£42.5m).
It’s understood Savinho is open to the move if the two Premier League clubs can agree on a transfer fee.

A Surprise Twist in Savinho’s Career

Savinho’s willingness to leave the Etihad Stadium has raised eyebrows, given his breakthrough season under Pep Guardiola.
Last term, the young Brazilian featured in 48 matches across all competitions, contributing three goals and 13 assists — an impressive return for a player still finding his feet in English football.

The winger joined Manchester City just last summer from French side Troyes for £30.8 million, making his potential departure after only one season all the more surprising.

Why Spurs Want Him

Thomas Frank is known for building dynamic, high-intensity attacking sides, and Savinho’s pace, dribbling ability, and creativity could fit seamlessly into that vision.
With Son gone and Maddison sidelined, Spurs lack both direct wing threat and creative spark — two areas the Brazilian could help address immediately.

What Happens Next

Negotiations are expected to continue over the coming days. While no agreement has yet been reached, Tottenham’s intent is clear: they see Savinho as a marquee signing capable of transforming their attacking play.

If the deal goes through, it would represent another statement move from the North London club as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
